Call Arangements
The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists is very clear that doctors should not work while fatigued. The effects of fatigue are difficult to predict in advance and carries with it potential risks to patients. Everyone needs to have adequate time off call. Dr Chang has a locum arrangement for weekends, holidays and conference leave with Dr Lucinda Pallis, Dr Kurinji Kannan and Dr Renee Verkuijl.
Dr Chang regularly attends professional meetings as he feels that it is essential to keep his practice current and up to date. He regularly attends the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy Meeting, the meeting of the Fertility Society of Australia and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology. He also attends other meetings he sees relevant.
Patients should call the Mater Women's Unit on 4722 8866 where you will speak to a midwife who will contact the doctor on call if necessary.
Assistant Surgeons
Some surgical procedures require an assistant surgeon and there are several different doctors who assist Dr Chang. There are fees for their services and patients are provided with all this information prior to surgery.
